Collaboratec Paved the Way for Immersive Technology Innovation in Pirkanmaa's Work Machine and Creative Digital Industries
The Collaboratec project (Collaboration model for using immersive visual technologies in work machine and creative digital industries) has reached its successful completion. This endeavor, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), started to build a bridge between research and industry needs by leveraging the CIVIT research infrastructure and its cutting-edge immersive technologies. The project primarily targeted the work machine industry and the creative digital industry in the Pirkanmaa region.
Cutting-Edge Tools and Collaboration
The project personnel developed new software and hardware tools that were used to allow experimentation with the unique equipment and novel research results for different business needs. The developed solutions included, for example, camera tracking solutions and volumetric capture pipelines for the creative digital industries and multimodal visual sensing solutions for the work machine industry. More than 10 companies contributed to the proof of concepts carried out during the project. We also hosted workshops to facilitate planning, knowledge sharing, networking and idea exchange.
A Blueprint for Industry-Academia Collaboration
As a result of the project, we have created a collaboration model for future industry-academia projects. An overview of this model and its different steps are available in pdf format. Further outcomes of the project include a report of company needs and a white paper of the profiled CIVIT technologies. We will use the developed collaboration model and the established company connections to further increase interaction between CIVIT and local industries. This can have a positive effect on fostering innovation, enhancing competitiveness driving economic growth in the Pirkanmaa region.
