CIVIT Open House 21.3.2019

CIVIT and Y-kampus are hosting an ‘Open Doors Day’ at CIVIT – Centre for Immersive Visual Technologies on Thursday 21.03.2019 at 14:00–16:00. We warmly welcome students, staff, and anyone interested in immersive visual technologies to visit CIVIT and experience our VR/AR demos, glasses-free light field display and other immersive technologies.

Demos

Omnideck – Omnidirectional VR Treadmill: The Omnideck is a motorized 360° platform that can be used to enhance analysis and exploration into any field or industry, allowing full immersion before implementing practical changes. It enables you to perform natural instinctive movement, in any direction within the virtual world.

Light Field Display Live Demo: We will demonstrate the visualization capabilities of a wide-field-of-view display. In comparison to currently wide-spread 3D displays that recreate a limited number of views (in most cases only two), a light field display recreates a continuous light field that uniquely describes a 3D scene. The correct visualization of a 3D content is achieved simultaneously by multiple users inside the viewing zone of the display without the need of user tracking or wearing special glasses.

Motion Capture Demo: We will demonstrate our motion capture studio and its optical tracking system.

VR Capture and Streaming: Live 360° streaming with state-of-the-art cameras

SMI Eye Tracking Glasses: Eye tracking demo with SMI eye tracking glasses that can record a person’s natural gaze behavior in real-time with a sampling rate.

Remote-presence Robot: Thanks to the remote-presence robot, we will also have visitors from Italy, from the University of Roma Tre!
