Equipment

We provide various high-end cameras, advanced displays,  range sensors and LIDARs, VR/AR and other immersive gear. CIVIT premises in Sähkötalo, Hervanta Campus, include capture and display studios, plenoptics lab and a UX room. Most of the equipment is portable. However, some of the equipment is fixed and can only be used at our premises. You can find out more from our equipment catalogue or see the full list of equipment.

Researchers, staff, students, and companies are welcome use our equipment in their research projects and experiments. You can find detailed rental policies for each user type below. We kindly ask all users to refer to CIVIT in their academic publications and thesis works.

User policy and prices

Researchers and Staff at Tampere Universities (TAU & TAMK) can request our equipment by filling in the request form. The equipment is free of charge for staff and students when it is used for research purposes.

For some equipment, you might need operation instructions given by the CIVIT staff, or let CIVIT staff operate the equipment. In this case, the project number for work time allocation might be required.

Students can get access to our facilities through courses, thesis work or other research projects. Students who need the equipment for their thesis work should send their research plan and supervisor’s contact information to civit@tuni.fi. In their research plan, students should mention why the equipment is necessary for the outcome/result of the thesis.

Companies can rent our equipment or get access to our facilities through research projects. You can also collaborate with us in smaller projects, such as Proof of Concept-projects. Find out more about our services for companies or contact us at civit@tuni.fi to find out more about our prices.
